1. All Rotarians/Rotaractors/Interactors in Districts 5360 are invited to compete in the Rotary Peace Photo Contest.
2. Each competitor may submit up to three digital photos taken by him/her or a member of his/her immediate family.
3. The photos may be manipulated using software such as Photoshop but the pictures submitted must be single digital photographs (i.e. no layering or composites of multiple images); The photo should be submitted as a JPEG image and the file size should be in the range of 1 to 5 Megabytes. In order to do this, the original photo should be taken with a minimum resolution of 1400 x 1050 pixels (i.e a file size of 1.470 megabytes) which corresponds on most cameras to a "High Quality" setting. In submitting the photo to the website, care must be taken to avoid excessive compression of the file; to do this, the compression or file size reduction should be set to zero or minimum. Images not

meeting the minimum sizes will not qualify for the prizes. Each photo must have a title of up to 50 characters; also, background notes that expand on the message in the photo are encouraged.
4. The photos will be a gift to Rotary and may be used in its promotion of international peace; the original photos and subject matter must not be copyright protected. Consents of the subjects in the photo (if required) are the responsibility of the competitor 5. The photos must be submitted on the website www.rotarianpeacephoto.org prior to April 30, 2010; instructions for doing this are on the website; on submission of the photos, the competitor will be advised of their receipt; once the photos are uploaded onto the website, the competitor will be able to view all the competing photos.
6. Judging of the photos will be based on the effectiveness of the photo in creating, in the

viewer, a passion for the advancement of international understanding, good will, and peace among mankind, as well as, photographic excellence.
7. The judging of the photos will be done by a panel chaired by the Foothills Camera Club in Calgary, consisting of three camera club members and three Rotarians; the decisions of the panel will be final.
8. A Cash Prizes of $750.00, $500.00 and $250.00 will be awarded for first, second and third place, respectively.
9. Winners will be announced and prizes given at the Rotary District 5360 Conference in Banff, Alberta, May 28, 2010.
