ENTRY FORM CONTEST RULES GALLERY GALLERY LAST YEAR
Contest Overview
Like beauty, which is in the eye of the beholder, peace means different things to different people. Some say it can be seen in the eyes of our children, others say religious symbols convey a sense of peace while yet others indicate that peace can be captured in the flags of the world. Rotarians have been promoting world understanding, good will and peace for over 100 years. There are many Rotary initiatives toward this end but we think this to be the first Rotarian Peace Photo Contest.

We are offering prizes for the best picture from a Rotarian or a member of the immediate family which captures the essence of world peace. As the attached rules for the contest state, the judging is in part on theme and in part on artistic merit. Please take this opportunity to send us your favourite peace photo, it will give us the pleasure of sending someone a cash prize for first, second and third place winners. PDG Steve Rickard.

"There is no question that a picture can influence its viewers far more effectively than written essays or carefully crafted speeches. Because of this I want to enthusiastically endorse the Peace Picture Photo Contest being organized by Rotary District 5360. The project is worthy of support by Rotarians around the world as there are no language barriers in such a contest. The photo simply speaks for itself. Best wishes for an outstanding Contest. Sincerely"  Wilf Wilkinson, President of Rotary International 2007-08

"I want to applaud and encourage your participation in the District 5360 Rotarian Peace Photo Contest. Thank you for creating a lasting visual record showing that Rotary Shares and that by doing so, Peace is possible."  RID Monty Audenart, Incoming Vice President Rotary International 2008-09

"A photo that presents a peaceful scene engenders peaceful thoughts in the mind of the viewer. A great idea. All the best with it"  Robert S. Scott. Trustee Chair,
The Rotary Foundation, 2007-08

"I am pleased to support our District's 2nd Annual Peace Photo Contest. Last year, many of us were inspired by the photos that were submitted, offering many glimpses into an individual's interpretation of peace. I invite all Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors to submit photos that express what peace means to you. I look forward to highlighting and celebrating a selection of these photos at our upcoming District Conference in Canmore from April 24-26, 2009."  Mark Starratt, District Governor

"I am delighted to add my support to the District 5360 Peace Photo Contest. I was impressed with the breadth and diversity of the outstanding photos that were presented at the District Conference last year. I look forward to having more Rotarians than ever, share with us their interpretation of Peace, International Understanding and Goodwill, as depicted by photos from their personal collections. Steve Allan, DG (5360) 2009/2010

The photos may be manipulated but the end product can only be a single digital image. When submitting the photo, the Judges need a large file size to ensure clarity during judging.
